Last week I went to Wat Baromracha. It is a big new Chinese temple in Nontaburi province. One thing that caught my attention was the swastikas on some of the Buddha images.
The swastika is a symbol that can often be seen in the East. Here it represents good not evil.
The Thai greeting 'sawat di' comes from the same Sanskrit root as the word swastika and means wellness and well being.
The red swastika sign can often be seen outside chinese vegetarian restaurants in Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

Amy's Salsa
My search for chutney proving fruitless in the supermarkets of Bangkok resulted in me buying this jar of Amy's Salsa instead. I hope it makes a good substitute to spread on my toast.
